I have oily, acne-prone skin that is sensitive. In November 2009, my acne went from mild to terrible. The scarring was even worse. I think it is because of hair products getting on my face when I exercise and sweat. In mid-December 2009, I decided to view my face the same way I view my hair: obsessively.
In this video (created in May 2010), I show how I make an olive oil mix that I use as a nightly moisturizer and to exfoliate skin. I have been using this method for almost eight months, and I think it is working to tackle the acne and scarring.
Why Exfoliate?
* removes dead skin cells on surface of skin, leading to a brighter, youthful complexion
* unclogs pores
* may help decrease amount of acne
* may help lighten acne scars
**Don’t exfoliate skin if you have a lot of blemishes or very sensitive skin.**
Extra Virgin Olive Oil Benefits:
* lightens acne scars
* softens and moisturizes skin
* effective in dislodging blackheads
Lemon Benefits:
* some antibacterial and cleansing properties
* natural skin brightener
* good for oily skin and acne
* lightens acne scars
Rosewood Essential Oil Benefits:
* mild, non-toxic and non-irritating EO
* antibacterial, antifungal, and antimicrobial
* helps balance oily skin
* clears up acne and good for scarring.
Lavender Essential Oil Benefits:
* gentle EO — one of the safest to use
* antibacterial, anti-inflammatory
* clears and prevents acne
Aloe Vera Gel Benefits:
* moisturizes skin
* softens and reduces acne scars
* regenerates skin so scars can be replaced with smooth, healthy skin
* can improve acne and prevent further breakouts
EVOO Moisturizer Recipe
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil (EVOO)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1-2 drops lavender essential oil
1-2 drops rosewood essential oil
Mix ingredients and pour into a squeeze bottle. (I bought my bottle from the travel/sample section in Wal-Mart.)
WHAT I HAVE LEARNED
* The moisturizer doesn’t have to be refrigerated.
* Don’t keep in bathroom (humidity).
* Respect the essential oils. Too much can damage your skin. Err on the side of using too little rather than using too much.
* Make batches in small amounts to keep blends fresh.
* Make sure your hands are clean before touching face.
* If you use too much, the EVOO moisturizer will eventually ooze into your eyes. Not a good feeling! Use it sparingly.
* Skin will tan FAST in the sun! Be careful.

Eucerin Moisturizer SPF 30 ($10 at Ulta) — use every morning
Never a Dull Moment ($18.50 at Origins) — use twice a day to wash face
Clearasil Vanishing Acne Treatment Cream ($5 at Wal-Mart) — use sparingly every morning
Clear Improvement: Active Charcoal Mask ($21 at Origins)
Ambi Even and Clear Skin Cream ($7 at CVS)
(In early April 2010, I began taking biotin and MSM — sulfur– for my hair. We’ll see if it helps my skin!)

Physicians Formula Organic Wear Tinted Moisturizer
Grade A-
Cost: $12 (but look for sales at rite aid and Ulta for a better deal)
Comments: A great product to use daily instead of heavier foundations. But people with oily skin will need to keep some powder or blotting sheets handy. There is a light smell but it the formula does NOT include fragrance, i assume it is the natural odor of the ingredients.
Recommendation: YES! I love this product especially great for my dry, sensitive, acne prone skin
Physicians Formula Organic Wear Loose Powder
Grade: B+
Cost: Rite Aid $14
Comments: Not a revolutionary product but the product still does its job. The included brush is cheap, but there is a hand little mirror on the back.
Recommendation: Yes, because i like the packaging and the fact that it is more natural than others.

Hello everyone, I am suffering from moderate acne and ive been trying to clear it up for many years now. I tried acne free severe, tooth paste, and other cleansers, but it hasnt helped too much.
I am planning on buying the neutrogena acne wash for cleansing, but I would like to know what toner and Moisturizer to buy with it. At this point in time i use clean and clear acne 3-1 face wash. It makes my skin very dry and im not sure if its even helping too much.
Buy yourself the soap and the cream of Vichy Normaderm.
They are very good sell them in samborns.
The cream costs less than 200 $ and the soap costs 60 $.
I believe me I use them and they are very good, and the better thing is that they are for teenagers, for whom there are other creams that are for persons mas adult and even they produce prejudices to the young skins for which they are very irritating.
This cream takes the sheen from you, it you dries the pimples and prepares that they work out different new thanks to a new technology that alone there have the Laboratories Vichy and Lancome.
The two are very good only that the creams are mas cheap in Vichy.
The equivalent of the cream that I recommend to you but of the laboratories Lancome it is called A Mash Focus and 500 costs $ approximately. It finalizes you see that cost buys me 480 $.
If you investigate the ccompañíasque they do them, it is the same for that both Laboratories belong to Lo-real and in my oopiniónlas two creams have the same substance, alone that the cream Lancome comes mas concentrated in the active substance and therefore it works mas rapidly beside having a better presentation. It is to say that it is mas elegant and luxurious.

I created what I call a SUPER Moisturizer for my type (4a/4b) hair because I couldn’t find anything on YouTube that really addressed my specific hair type. Not that someone should (lol), it’s just that I saw a lot of good videos but the technique or product would not or did not work on my type hair.
